Building residual income with MLM might sound like fiction to most people. Fact of the matter, though, is that there are many people making really big money from it – and even Robert Kyosakis (author of Rich Dad, Poor dad) recommends it, which should tell you something…
Yes, many people fail at network marketing – and as such many people think it is all one big scam. However, in most cases, there are perfectly logical explanations as to why they fail in building residual income with MLM.
In some cases, the product they are trying to sell is simply not worth buying. This is common among newbies who were simply blown away by a good sales pitch.
In other cases, it is often a question of “fishing on the wrong pond”. For instance, people may be advised to target their family and friends – while more often than not, none of these people are good prospects.
(Think logically before approaching a family member or friend, and decide: If you did not know this person, would you consider approaching him or her with your offer? If not, don’t)
Additionally, you may be advised to target other network marketers with your opportunity. While it is true that many of them keep jumping from one programme to the next, you have to keep two things in mind: Firstly, you will be “selling to sellers” – meaning that when you make your pitch, you can expect one in return – and secondly, there is a reason why these people keep jumping from one Network Marketing programme to the next. If they were able to get their action together and make some money, they would not have done so.
In most cases, however, it is a lack of consistent action that keeps people from building residual income with MLM. For the first week it goes well, and then when there are no referrals yet, they start slipping on their priorities: Skipping a session for a meeting or webinar there, skipping a follow-up now and then, starting to skip the details and trying to cut corners…
Let’s face it: There is a reason why the network marketing company you are promoting suggests a specific plan of action for promotion. In just about every case, it is a plan that has been proven to yield results, so if you follow it to the letter, so will you. Fair enough, the plan might not be perfect, and you will adapt it over time – but at the start (and for newbies), the proven action plan will work – as long as YOU work.
Building residual income with MLM comes down to a few basic ingredients:
a. Use your common sense when you choose a product to promote, and the company you want to work with.
b. Consider your target prospect’s characteristics – this holds true for any business venture, not just only when building residual income with MLM.
c. Stick to the plan, and keep working. If you are promoting a decent product to the right people, and taking constant, persistent action, network marketing success is inevitable.
