Most people would think that it will require years and years of experience, and building a massive passive income over the space of many years. The reality, though, is quite different from that… Whether you are viewed as a network marketing authority or not, will depend not on what you have achieved, but on how other people view you. It’s all about perceptions. It’s all about what people believe you to be – and thanks to the internet, you can, to a large extent, determine what that perception will be. In other to be viewed as a network marketing authority, you basically have to ensure that the right perceptions are in place for three basic things: 1. You know what you are talking about. Actually, it’s as simple as making sure of your facts. In today’s day and age, getting information is easy, but it’s also easy to get it wrong. Yes, sometimes you may have to do some digging, but just about anything you may want to talk about, will already be discussed somewhere else – by an existing MLM authority. The context of the information may be different to how you want to present it, and you may have to find the different pieces of information from different blog posts or videos – but it’s all there. So – point number one: Verify your facts before you speak out. There is an old expression that says: Rather keep quiet and be thought a fool, than speak out and prove it beyond all doubt”. If you aren’t sure about what you are about to say, go do your homework first. 2. Be the person who solves problems. People look up to people who help them overcome problems. A big part of becoming a network marketing authority is about appearing to have all the answers. People must perceive you as someone who has answers to their problems. The fact that you also go digging for answers in order to help them, is irrelevant. The bottom line is that you were the one to help them solve the problem. You were there when someone needed an answer or a solution to a problem in their MLM business. 3. Be visible consistently. Think about stuff you buy every day – why do you trust the brands you buy? Because you see their ads around you from time to time. It may be on television, it may be on websites, it may be in magazines, or it may be on billboards and vehicles. The fact is that you are constantly reminded of the fact that they are there, offering a solution to a problem or requirement. Always remember that the internet is an incredibly fast-moving environment. If you stop being visible, even just for a month, you will have lost a lot of leverage. For instance, those of you with mailing lists will know exactly what I’m talking about – when you usually send emails two or three times per week, and then skip a month… The next time you send an email, you have a LOT of people unsubscribing. You have been quiet for so long (while everybody else around them kept talking), that they probably think: “Who is this person? I can’t remember why I signed up for this”. You can slow down on what you post on your blog, but always remember to be visible on social media – even while on vacation (ok, not every day, and just for a few minutes per day when you do; just so people don’t forget who you are. Even if you just log on to tell your Facebook and Twitter friends you are having a great time – thanks to the money you made as a network marketing authority). A word of caution: While it is possible to get people to view you as a network marketing authority, there is one thing you cannot manipulate – you absolutely have to be totally ethical. If people start referring to you as a scammer, your reputation is bound to take a bad knock. So – treat everybody the way you want to be treated, help people solve problems, and be visible consistently. You don’t have to be “everywhere” (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Linkedin, Snapchat, Youtube, Google+, etc) – just pick what works best for you, and put most of your efforts into it. The fewer social networks you are active on, the less work it is to be visible on a regular basis.
